Colour Disclaimer

I make every effort to ensure my physical prints accurately represent the colour you see online. Please be assured that I have spent hours tweaking print settings for each individual design to get them as close to the digital file as possible, however, due to varying screen calibrations, your screen brightness and the way we each perceive colour, you may (or may not) find that in some instances, the colour varies slightly from the digital image.

Even if you have calibrated your monitor to a specific colour profile, the colours you see online can still vary somewhat from the actual printed product. Here’s a few reasons why:

Backlighting: When you view your images on electronic devices, they have illuminated displays. If you’re anything like me and have your screen brightness quite high, the colours, details and overall appearance will look very bright / vibrant. Printed products are - of course - not illuminated. Even though the artwork printed will closely match the original image file, it will always appear slightly darker.

RGB vs. CMYK: Images are viewed online with RGB and need to be translated to CMYK for print. The printed images and colours will be similar, but it will not match your screen exactly as slight variances occur when translating from one colour space to another.

Placement: Where the artwork will be placed and how it will be viewed will also impact colour perception. For example, hanging a print in a dimly lit hallway will make the colours look darker and less vivid compared to hanging the same print near a large window with natural light. This will impact the perception of darker images (eg. prints with lots of browns / blacks) more significantly, and will impact the perception of brighter coloured prints less significantly.
